New spangly collection for your ears only

This new collection reflects my love for Kinetic Art and sparkly sequins.

Did you know though, that the word 'Sequin' is a rendition into French from the Italian word 'zecchino' – initially a gold coin that was issued in the late medieval/early post-medieval centuries in Republic of Venice... then eventually forgotten! But it was the french who then revived the word to mean what it means today. How convenient, I'm in France after all – when in France do as the frenchies do :)

Work in progress for a new collection

It has taken me almost 2 years to sink my hands into creating new one of a kind pieces for a collection. They're made or will be made specifically with antique mother of pearl(MOP) game tokens that look like coins, found from my many trips to bric-a-brac/antique markets around Paris. They all come with patterns that were hand carved lightly on the surface for decorative purposes – mostly of motifs derived from nature such like flowers, birds etc. I hope not too tear away too much of it's charm but instead putting them in a much treasured context which we can carry around with us as body adornments to boot!

Here's a pic of the actual token and the first pair of earrings I'd made out of them. I hope to oxidise the silver when the whole collection is finalised.

What's new with Minicyn?

Lo and behold.... after searching high and low I'd managed to find myself some not only rose-cut diamonds but in brown and grey color too! Well, they're for the shop but if I'm good I may get to keep a pair for myself one day. They're about 2.2mm wide, set into a round chubby 4.4mm wide solid silver pebble-like form with some subtle speckly texture to give of dancing light. Lovely they are.

Organic happenings at Minicyn

Bought some new delish faceted stones to set last week – Pale green Sapphire with some lovely texture reminiscent of an country autumn landscape and a wee forest green Tourmaline. Here are the results. And to top it off I made somemore of those solid studded cube in 3 different sizes to boot!

Happy viewing :)
