Paris brass chains chains chains!

Ohh ahhhh... I've died and gone to heaven! My friend Lunaticart and I stumbled across this brass chains and findings shop in a little street in Paris after all these months and months of searching. As you know France isn't all that caught up in having a business related website, especially when it's has been passed down from generations and hadn't obviously suffered much for the need to promote or get with the times. Word of mouth is still very much the way one finds the way.

Here are some pictures of the inside store with it's original fit-outs, except the computer stands out like a sore thumb! Don't you just love the original cashier booth with the mesh bar still standing. Unfortunately, I didn't get to snap a pic of the resident black and white cat, who looks very well fed and very much at ease with strangers. Though I'm still little hesitant.... especially about it's crazy eyes!!

Here are some of my new NON-sterling silver pieces made from the store HERE!

It's been a while I know!

Yes.... I've run out of fuel with my 'ring a day' project. Started out with very good intentions but there's more important projects (new!) going on this year.... happy to share but not quite yet!

This weekend was filled with sunshine literally. Paris was shot with an 18-20 degrees of temperature which means plenty of smiles and picnics which we are quite happy to participate as well. We also headed down to my favourite 'Brocante'(like a vintage/antique market) selling every from french antique laces, tools from the 1800's-1900's, furniture, tins, badges, sculptures etc etc, just every collector's dream come true. Tis not too organized nor messy which is the kind of Brocante I love! Get there by metro(Puces de Vanves), it's open every Saturday and Sunday.

Here are some pics of one of my favourite stall selling vintage steel stamps ranging from 80 - 2 Euros. Boahh.... it's all mineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
ciao

Day 69 ring: Bubble

Day 69, I've made it so far.

What a day!...

Day 68 ring: Star cancer ring

Simple, elegant and stylish... say no more! The little ball head sitting on top of the silver platform is not soldered onto the surface but a silver ball head pin, ball headed on each end, so it moves a little when you move. A square solid silver wire is used for a band to match the angular face.

Ah, I'm both looking forward and dreading the start of visitors coming to visit us and Paris. The first visitor arrives tomorrow, and will keep coming until July. Not that I don't enjoy them but my work comes to a halt for a minimum of a week and I have to revisit over and over again the same scenery... Eiffel tower after Eiffel tower ekk! So, I'm seriously thinking about putting 'ring a day' on hold as I won;t have much time at all... perhaps.

Day 65, 66 and 67 ring...

I trust that everyone has had a lovely long Easter break!

No chocolate eggs for us but we attempted to visit the old famous chocolate factory first run and own by the Menier family of chocolate makers back in the 1825, in Noisiel area north central of Paris. Unfortunately my partner forgot the most important thing... to check to see if it was open on a public holiday! Never mind as the view from the outside of the Saulnier Mill inside the factory was just as ostentatious as it would look from the inside ground area.

To learn more about the Menier chocolate factory and the town itself click here.

And here are pictures of all missing 3 rings from the weekend too!

Day 64 ring: Just simple

Just a simple band made of solid silver square wire as a stack with 2 previous day's rings(group photos included). High polished finished adds contrast to the other two textured rings.

Boahhh what a horrible week of rain and grey sky... very uninspiring.
